Lunch Bunch with Mrs. Chong

Starting the week of February 22, 2021, all our distance learners will be asked to participate in our Lunch Bunch hosted by our School Counselor, Mrs. Chong. All distance learners will be assigned to a Lunch Bunch during a time that will not affect their academic participation. The Lunch Bunch groups will be divided into groups based on grade level. The groups will be a time for students to interact socially while gaining some social and emotional skills to help them continue to grow as well-rounded students. Students will need to log on at their designated time. The link is posted on itslearning under the students’ Guidance class. Family Lenten Retreat Day
(No in-person learning, no Zoom. Our campus is closed.)

Required Activities:
1. View Ash Wednesday Mass on our church website or St. Monica in Santa Monica, CA or any Catholic website.
2. Write the Our Father in English and Padre Nuestro in Spanish. (Turn in to your teacher.)
3. Write your 3 Lenten goals on how you will pray, fast, and give this Lent. Goals can be individual or family goals. Here is a template you are welcome to use: Lenten goals. (Turn in to your teacher.)
4. 40 Exercise Challenge - Do 40 jumping jacks, 40 sit-ups, and 40 arm circles!
Optional Activities:
1. Stations of the Cross - for kids or for teens - see below.
2. Make a cross - see below.
3. Listen to the Christian songs below. Which one speaks most to you and why? Discuss with your family - see below.
4. Make a "Pray, Fast, Give" poster to display in your home - see below.
5. Wear purple.

Day 1 - First day of quarantine
Day 2 -6 - No symptoms and quarantine
Day 7 - Option 1: Take COVID test (if you choose). *The test must be taken on Day 7 in order to come to school on Day 8. Tests prior to Day 7 are not eligible for return.
Day 8 - If results are negative and there have been no symptoms, then the person can return to school with a copy of the negative results on Day 8.
Day 10 - Option 2: Last day of quarantine
Day 11 - Person may return to school on Day 11 without a test if no symptoms for all 10 days.
*If a person experiences symptoms or tests positive, then different guidelines are followed and the quarantine begins again. Please always notify Dr. Grenardo, so she can help you through the process with love and compassion.

SJS Learning Options
We must receive at least a day’s notice prior to changing your child's learning option. Please email Ms. Kathy at k.urdialez@stjamesschoolsa.org
• Temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher;
• Sore throat;
• New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (or, for students with a chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline);
• Diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain; or
• New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever.
2. Students must have a doctor’s note to return to school. Thank you for following these guidelines set by the Archdiocese of San Antonio in order to keep our school safe.
3. Please email your teacher and email Ms. Kathy in the office at k.urdialez@stjamesschoolsa.org by 9 a.m. if your child is not able to come to school. Your child is always welcome to join a Zoom class.
4. If at any time you need to transfer to Distance Learning only, then please notify the office and/or your teachers so we can document clearly. If a family moves to Distance Learning, then the family will follow that learning option for the remainder of weeks 4, 5, and 6. The learning option can be re-evaluated for weeks 7, 8, and 9.
